Rule 56 Privacy Statement

Effective Date: February 20, 2024

1. Scope and Who We Are

Rule 56 LLC (“Rule 56,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) provides cybersecurity consulting services. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and otherwise handle personal information in connection with our website at rule56.io and its public-facing subdomains (the “Site”), our official social media pages, and related inquiries and business communications.

“Personal information” means information that identifies, relates to, describes, or can reasonably be associated with an individual.

This Privacy Policy applies to information Rule 56 handles for its own website, communications, and business purposes. It does not describe all information Rule 56 may process on behalf of clients while providing professional services. Client-related processing is governed by applicable law and the applicable Statement of Work, nondisclosure agreement, data processing agreement, or other written agreement.

This Privacy Policy is intended for Rule 56’s activities in the United States. Rule 56 does not market its services outside the United States.

2. Information We Collect

  • Business contact information

  • Information included in an inquiry or other correspondence

Please do not submit passwords, security credentials, sensitive incident evidence, or confidential client information through public portions of the Site or through public social media posts. Contact Rule 56 to arrange an appropriate method for exchanging sensitive information.

Website and Technical Information

The Site is hosted on the Wix.com platform. As part of hosting, securing, operating, and analyzing the Site, Wix may automatically collect technical and usage information associated with visits to the Site.

Depending on Wix’s platform configuration and the technologies necessary to provide its services, this information may include information such as:

  • Internet Protocol (IP) address

  • Browser and device information

  • General geographic information derived from an IP address

  • Referring source

  • Pages viewed

  • Date and time of access

  • Site navigation and interaction information

  • Session information

  • Information concerning Site performance, errors, security, and availability

Rule 56 does not currently deploy additional third-party analytics, advertising, behavioral tracking, or similar technologies beyond the functionality provided natively through Wix.

Social Media Information

When you interact with an official Rule 56 social media page, we may receive information associated with that interaction, including your profile name, publicly available profile information, comments, messages, reactions, and other information made available through the applicable platform.

Information posted publicly may be visible to other users. The applicable social media provider independently controls its platform and may collect and use information under its own privacy policy and terms.

Information Received from Others

We may receive business contact information from clients, business partners, referral sources, prospective clients, or other individuals who introduce you to Rule 56 or include you in business correspondence.

We use this information in connection with the applicable introduction, inquiry, or business relationship.

3. How We Use Information

Rule 56 may use personal information to:

  • Respond to inquiries and requests

  • Communicate with prospective and existing clients and business partners

  • Prepare proposals, Statements of Work, or other requested business materials

  • Provide requested information about Rule 56 and its services

  • Operate, administer, maintain, and improve the Site

  • Understand general Site usage and performance

  • Detect, investigate, and prevent security incidents, fraud, abuse, or misuse

  • Maintain appropriate business and administrative records

  • Protect Rule 56’s rights, property, systems, personnel, clients, and others

  • Comply with applicable laws, regulations, legal processes, and governmental requests

  • Establish, exercise, or defend legal claims

  • Perform other activities with your consent or at your direction

Rule 56 may send business development or marketing communications to business contacts where appropriate and permitted by law. You may request that Rule 56 stop sending such communications as described below.

4. Wix, Cookies, and Analytics
Wix Hosting

The Site is hosted using the Wix.com platform. Wix provides the infrastructure and functionality necessary to host, operate, secure, and administer the Site.

Information associated with Site visitors may therefore be processed or stored using Wix’s infrastructure, databases, applications, analytics capabilities, and other platform services.

Wix’s handling of information in connection with its independent platform operations is also subject to Wix’s applicable privacy notices and policies.

Cookies and Similar Technologies

The Site uses cookies and similar technologies provided through Wix as necessary or appropriate to operate the Site.

These technologies may be used for purposes that include:

  • Maintaining Site security

  • Detecting fraud, attacks, or abuse

  • Maintaining Site stability and functionality

  • Rendering Site content

  • Maintaining sessions

  • Measuring platform effectiveness

  • Diagnosing errors or performance issues

  • Providing native Site traffic and usage analytics

The specific cookies used, their names, purposes, and duration may change as Wix updates its platform.

Rule 56 does not currently add third-party advertising cookies, marketing pixels, Google Analytics, or other third-party behavioral tracking technologies to the Site.

You may control or delete cookies using your browser settings and any cookie or privacy controls made available through the Site or Wix platform. Blocking certain cookies may affect Site functionality.

Wix Analytics

Rule 56 may use analytics information made available through Wix’s native analytics functionality to understand general Site traffic and usage, such as pages viewed, traffic sources, visitor locations, device types, and Site interactions.

Rule 56 uses this information for purposes such as understanding Site usage, maintaining the Site, assessing content effectiveness, and improving Site performance.

Rule 56 does not use Site visitor information for cross-site behavioral advertising.

Do Not Track

Some web browsers offer a “Do Not Track” or similar setting.

Rule 56 does not independently configure the Site to respond differently when a browser transmits a Do Not Track signal. Site cookies, analytics, and related functionality operate according to the capabilities and settings provided through Wix and the visitor’s browser or device.

Rule 56 does not currently deploy third-party advertising or cross-site behavioral tracking technologies on the Site.

Global Privacy Control and Similar Signals

Rule 56 does not sell personal information or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising as those concepts are generally understood under applicable U.S. state privacy laws.

Because Rule 56 does not currently engage in those activities through the Site, an opt-out preference signal such as Global Privacy Control does not change Rule 56’s own sale or behavioral-advertising practices.

If Rule 56’s practices change in a manner that requires recognition of legally applicable opt-out preference signals, Rule 56 will update its practices and this Privacy Policy as appropriate.

5. How We Disclose Information

Rule 56 may disclose personal information in the following circumstances.

Service Providers

We may provide information to companies that perform services on our behalf or provide infrastructure used in our business.

For the Site, this includes Wix, which provides website hosting, infrastructure, security, analytics, and related website functionality.

We may also use service providers supporting ordinary business operations, such as business email, information storage, communications, professional services, and other administrative functions.

These providers receive information as appropriate for the services they perform.

Professional Advisers

We may disclose information to attorneys, accountants, insurers, consultants, or other professional advisers when reasonably necessary to obtain their services or protect our interests.

Legal and Security Purposes

We may disclose information where we reasonably believe disclosure is appropriate to:

  • Comply with applicable law

  • Respond to lawful legal process or governmental requests

  • Investigate suspected fraud, security incidents, or unlawful activity

  • Enforce our agreements or legal rights

  • Protect Rule 56, its clients, personnel, or others from harm

  • Establish, exercise, or defend legal claims

Business Transactions

Information may be disclosed in connection with a proposed or completed merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, sale of assets, or similar business transaction, subject to applicable legal requirements.

At Your Direction

We may disclose information when you request or authorize the disclosure.

Information you intentionally submit through a public feature, including a social media post or comment, may also be accessible to other users.

6. Sale of Personal Information and Targeted Advertising

Rule 56 does not sell personal information.

Rule 56 does not use personal information collected through the Site for cross-context behavioral advertising or targeted advertising based on a visitor’s activities across unaffiliated websites or services.

Rule 56 does not knowingly provide personal information to data brokers.

If these practices materially change, Rule 56 will update this Privacy Policy and provide any notices or choices required by applicable law.

7. Data Retention

Rule 56 retains personal information for as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose for which it was collected and for legitimate business, security, legal, and administrative purposes.

Relevant considerations may include:

  • The nature of the information

  • The purpose for which it was collected

  • Whether an inquiry or business relationship remains active

  • Contractual requirements

  • Business recordkeeping requirements

  • Security requirements

  • Applicable statutes of limitation

  • Legal, regulatory, accounting, or reporting obligations

  • The need to establish, exercise, or defend legal claims

Information maintained through Wix or another service provider may remain in backups or other systems in accordance with that provider’s applicable retention and deletion processes.

8. Your Privacy Choices and Requests
Marketing Communications

You may ask Rule 56 to stop sending marketing or business development communications by using an unsubscribe option provided in the communication, if applicable, or by contacting us at info@rule56.io.

Opting out of marketing communications does not prevent Rule 56 from sending communications concerning an existing business relationship, responding to an inquiry, providing requested information, or sending other nonmarketing communications where appropriate.

Requests Concerning Your Information

You may contact Rule 56 at legal@rule56.io to:

  • Ask whether we maintain personal information about you

  • Request access to personal information

  • Request correction of inaccurate information

  • Request deletion of personal information

  • Make another request concerning our handling of your personal information

Depending on your state of residence, applicable law, and whether the relevant law applies to Rule 56, you may have additional privacy rights.

Rule 56 will evaluate requests in accordance with applicable law. Rights may be subject to exceptions, including when information must be retained for security, contractual, recordkeeping, legal, or claims-related purposes.

We may request information reasonably necessary to verify your identity or verify the authority of someone making a request on your behalf.

Where applicable law provides a right to appeal a decision concerning a privacy request, an appeal may be submitted to legal@rule56.io.

Rule 56 will not unlawfully discriminate against an individual for exercising a privacy right provided by applicable law.

9. Information Security

Rule 56 uses reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures intended to protect personal information from unauthorized access, acquisition, disclosure, alteration, loss, or destruction.

The Site also relies on security functionality provided through the Wix platform.

No website, communication system, or method of electronic storage can be guaranteed to be completely secure. Accordingly, you should avoid transmitting sensitive or confidential information through public Site features unless Rule 56 has instructed you that the method is appropriate for that information.

10. Third-Party Websites and Social Media

The Site may contain links to websites or services controlled by third parties. Rule 56 does not control the privacy, security, or information-handling practices of those third parties.

Our official social media pages are hosted on platforms operated by third parties. Those platform operators may independently collect and process information when you access or interact with their services.

You should review the privacy notices and settings applicable to third-party websites and platforms you use.

A link or social media presence does not mean that Rule 56 controls the third party’s privacy practices.

11. Children’s Privacy

The Site and Rule 56’s services are intended for businesses and professional audiences and are not directed to children under 13 years of age.

Rule 56 does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 through the Site.

If you believe that a child under 13 has provided personal information to Rule 56, please contact legal@rule56.io so that we can review the matter and take appropriate action.

12. United States Operations

Rule 56 is based in the United States and markets its services to organizations in the United States.

The Site is not directed toward individuals outside the United States, and Rule 56 does not actively market its services outside the United States.

Information handled through Wix or other technology providers may be processed using infrastructure operated by those providers in accordance with their applicable terms, policies, and service configurations.

13. Changes to This Privacy Policy

Rule 56 may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes to our Site, business practices, technologies, or legal requirements.

When we update this Privacy Policy, we will post the revised version on the Site and update the effective date shown above.

Where applicable law requires additional notice or consent for a particular change, we will provide that notice or obtain that consent as required.
